Offshore or deep sea fishing as it is commonly referred to the Oceanside (Atlantic) of the Florida Keys. The fishing grounds can be found from the point of entry at an inlet or bridge to some of the humps (volcanic formations very popular with the locals) that can be reached depending upon where you left from, for example the middle keys, at some 15 miles to approximate 25 miles offshore. Depending on the time of the year dictates where the most likely productive areas would be. It's not unusual to have to go only 2 to 3 miles to get to the fishing grounds. The reefs at 45 to 110ft produce seasonal bottom catches of Mutton Snapper, Yellow Tail, & Grouper. Just a little further out and sometimes in the same areas you  can find Sailfish, Wahoo and Dolphin (mahe mahe) prevalent. dolphin action really heats up during the summer months, however you can find them throughout  most of the year. With the change of season as the water temperature drops in  the winter months you can count on some really exciting billfish action with the simultaneous chance of my personal favorite the fastest fish in the water  Wahoo, mixed in with some Smoker Kings and Tuna action.
